After winning the season opener, the Cazenovia College Wildcats men's lacrosse team kept the victories coming by dominating Bryn Athyn in the second half on Friday March 14. Cazenovia outscored Bryn Athyn 10-3 in the second half to secure a 14-9 win.
After a slow start for the Wildcats offense, Joe Delia set up teammates, Brandon Maxson and Kyle Kingsley, assisting on back-to-back goals to tie the game at 2. Cazenovia ended the 1st quarter with a 3-2 lead following another goal from Maxson.
Bryn Athyn started the second quarter hot with four unanswered goals including two by freshman Sean Feyler. Cazenovia trailed 6-3 throughout most of the second period until Eric Hanover ended the scoring for the quarter with a goal assisted by Joe Delia to bring Cazenovia within two goals.
The Wildcats came back to tie the game at 6 in the middle of the third quarter with an unassisted goal from Maxson and assists from Kyle Kingsley and Mike Mahl to spark Hanover's hot hand. Hanover scored four out of his team-leading seven goals in the third quarter to give the Wildcats a 10-7 lead going into the final period with some help from Joe Delia and Chris Hoover.
Cazenovia sealed the win in the forth with two goals from Hanover assisted by Delia, an unassisted goal by Joe Delia and goal by Vincent Halsey assisted by Hanover. Cazenovia rebounded to out-shoot Bryn Athyn 24-11 in the second half after Bryn Athyn carried the advantage in total shots through the first half (20-18). The Wildcats defense held Bryn Athyn to three goals in the second half and limited leading scorer Sean Feyler to just one goal over the final two periods after he scored three goals in the first half.
Midfielder/ Defender Chris Hoover lead the wildcats in groundballs with 9 and goalie Pat Boyle contributed to his second victory with eight saves on the day. Zach House won 8 out of 16 face-offs to give the Wildcats possession throughout the game.
