Comeback Falls Short Against Mavericks

The Cazenovia Men's Lacrosse team fought until the closing seconds on their home field Saturday but the Wildcats could not complete the comeback against Medaille College.  With the 10-8 loss, Cazenovia falls to 0-3 early in NEAC play.

The Wildcats started off slow as the Mavericks took over the first period by scoring two goals and keeping the Wildcats scoreless until later into the second period when Joe Delia and Brandon Maxson scored to spark a potential comeback.  Down by one with all the momentum in the Wildcats favor, Medaille's Brock Levick scored 3 goals in the second period (including the 200th of his career) to give Medaille a 4-goal lead going into the second half.

Cazenovia did not give up as they went into the second half determined to get their first NEAC win.  The Wildcats defense held the Mavericks to 4 goals in the second half lead by the play of Keenan Mahoney.  Mahoney hustled for every ground ball he could and lead his team with six groundballs.  Cazenovia's comeback attempt featured six goals in the second half as Eric Hanover, Delia, Maxson and Chris Hoover picked up the pace offensively.   The Wildcats ended up a few goals shy of evening up the score as Medaille escaped with the 10-8 win.  The Wildcats out-shot Medaille 34-24 also won 14-22 face-offs and picked up 30 of 54 ground balls.

The Wildcats host SUNY IT on their home field Wednesday, April 9th.  The NEAC opponent is also Wildcats Pride for the Men's Lacrosse team.
