Road Struggles Continue for Wildcats
Canton, NY – The Wildcats women's lacrosse team fell behind early and never regrouped falling to the Roos of SUNY Canton by a score of 21-4 on Saturday. With the loss Cazenovia falls to (1-4) on the season.
Canton jumped out to an early 5-0 lead midway through the first half with scoring coming from five different Roos players. Kaitlin Sheppard put the Wildcats on the board with 15:41 remaining in the first half but Canton had an answer scoring the games next three goals to lead 8-1. Cazenovia responded with back-to-back goals but it was the Roos who scored the final five goals of the half to lead 13-3 at intermission.
The hosts continued to dominate play out of intermission scoring the first five goals of the second stanza. Sheppard added her third goal of the day with 11:28 left to play which broke up a string of 10 consecutive Roo scores. SUNY Canton scored three goals down the stretch and only gave up one goal in the final 30 minutes of play.
As a team the Wildcats won the draw control battle by a +7 margin but were outshot 39-18 on the afternoon.
Cazenovia College women's lacrosse will be back in action on Wednesday, April 2 as they host "Route 20 Rival" Morrisville State at 4:00 pm on Christakos Field.
