The Cazenovia College Women's Lacrosse team defeated Lancaster Bible College 15-6 and Wilson College 17-3 in back to back games this past weekend. The Wildcats have now won 7 out of their last 8 contests to finish the regular season 8-7 overall with a 6-3 record in NEAC play to earn a spot in the conference championship tournament.
On Saturday, Cazenovia was led by Kaitlin Sheppard with 8 goals as she fired 10 shots on goal in the game. Sheppard scored 6 first half goals with Alexandra Welch and Jessica Cramer chipping in with a goal each to give Cazenovia an 8-2 first half lead.
Cazenovia came out firing in the second half as Amaris Woodson, Abby Webster started off the second half scoring. Welch then scored for the second time in the game followed by a pair of goals by Sheppard before Welch found the back of the net twice more to bring her total to four and give the Wildcats a lead of 15-6. Cazenovia held Lancaster Bible to four goals in the second half and did not allow the Chargers to score in the final 10 minutes of play to lock in the win. Cazenovia goalie Abigail Kortz stopped 12 of 18 shots on goal.
On Sunday, Cazenovia tallied seven goals in the first half as Kaitlin Sheppard, Cassie Smock, Abby Webster, Jessica Cramer combined to give the Wildcats a 7-3 lead. In the second half Cazenovia rolled with ten goals as Smock scored four goals, Jessica Cramer and Kaitlin Sheppard each scored a pair of goals and Abby Webster, Alexandra Welch and Ashley Isabella each found the back of the net once in the second half. Abigail Kortz continued her stellar play in goal as she stopped 9 of 12 shots.
